The purpose of ECOA is to promote the availability of credit to all creditworthy applicants.
The ECOA prohibits a creditor from discrimination based on:

- Your National origin
- Your Sex
- Your Marital status
- Your Age
- If you receive public assistance
- If you have previously excercised rights under other Acts
